Chengdu Blades 1 - Liaoning 1
The Blades kicked off the new China Super League season with a well deserved draw against Liaoning
The game broadcast live at 7am this morning on Chinese channel TV Live was of a good standard with both teams playing equally good controlled football in front of a large and vocal home support... The Blades just edging the first half and to be fair should have been leading at half time but for some excellent saves by the visiting goalkeeper
Liaoning began the second half with tempo and the Blades had to defend well to stay level but eventually matched the visitors endeavour and gradually took control and looked the most likely to score, but on 65 minutes, against the run of play the visitors took the lead with a delightful defence splitting pass and finish.
The Blades, roared on by the Red Army of supporters immediately picked up the pace and had several good chances to equalise and on 75 minutes the blades got their reward will a fabulous header from Liu Cheng after a pin-point diagonal cross from outside the right edge of the box... on 86 minutes the Blades should have won-it but the cross field ball into the box some how managed to elude 2 Chengdu players.
The Blades looked really good on the ball and not overwhelmed by the prospect of playing in China's top league
